As a Necro...What's the BEST stuff to have?!? Thnx - Guild Wars Forums

At level 20 now, have some understanding of what's goin on..
but WHAT are the Best things I should have as far as a Weapon, Charm, Skills to use, armor, Scrolls, Runes?

Just wondered what the TOP stuff is for a NECRO..build him to the Max

The problem with your question is you didn't provide a build you are using. What skills are on your bar? What attributes do you have invested?

I have protective ICON and a battle axe at the moment..
I could be doin Far better i believe

You have a battle axe but you dont have Warrior as your secondary. Unless you meet the requirement for the axe, you will be doing real low damage. Perhaps substitute the axe with wand as both your classes are casters anyway.

i use a cursing build that is based around spiteful spirit. i am a N/Me for the soul purpose of archane echo. if i had the attribute points or skill slots im sure i would use mesmer skills though. anywho, i have 16 curses, 11 blood and 9 soul (im pretty sure thats the setup) my staff is the 20/20 cursing with +5 armor and 14% chance to +1 curses. (its alot better than having +40 hp)
the only skills i use that arent cursing are awaken the blood and archane echo. awaken the blood is +2 curses and +2 blood, and with archane echo i can get off 4 spiteful spirits in 20 seconds, sometimes 5 or 6 if i fast recharge.
with scar armor (some fissure) i have almost the best necro stuff for my build. (the 14% could be 20%)

the stuff you use changes on your build. its like when someone says they have the perfect sword. perfect is not possible because there will always be someone who has a better swomrd for thier build. im guessing your a blood death necro though, why? because thats what just about all necros are because they like upfront damage. if you want the real damage you should go into cursing. however after reading alot of threads its seeming that a cursing necro is the hardest build in the game. this is simply because cursing necros have very little direct damage and use the actions of the enemies against them.
so its like a mesmer with longer lasting hexes but they deal less damage and steal life instead of energy. so its all up to how you want to play, you could deal some sissy upfront damage with blood and death, or go to cursing and deal alot more. oh yeah, cursing also has some good direct damage skills, like feast of corruption, hits from 84-126, and its AoE, as well as desecrate enchantments, it hits from 71-150 (highest ive had it hit for)

so in closing, there is no way to make your necro the best, its all about how you like to fight. weather it be taking the enemies life from them while supporting your team with energy and life (blood) creating undead minions, spreading conditions and playing with dead things (death) or watching the enemies kill themselves and forking monks in the butt (cursing, my favorite)
making your necro best is something that all depends on the skills you use and how you use them.

As far as skills go, here are my faves:

Life Transfer (use in conjunction with Life Siphon for max regen)
Spiteful Spirit (I kill monks with this all the time)
Insidious Parasite (same thing as Empathy, only you gain health as well, MUCH better than Empathy; I kill warriors with this all the time)
Plague Signet (found EXTREMELY helpful in PVP)
Well of Power (PVE recommended only; use Well of Blood if you're using any other elite skill)
Soul Barbs (since you're a N/Me, you'll EXTREMELY like this)
Animate <anything> (Minions for PVE & Horrors/Fiends for PVP my recomendations; cast Death Nova on Minions in PVP for timed bombs)
Tainted Flesh (GREAT in the arena vs anything melee)
Virulence (great to have if you have a warrior on your side)
Mark of Pain (great to have if you have a warrior on your side)

Those are the ones I like using the most. Of course, my necro is Curse & Blood, so ya know.

and as for the posters questions....
i just made a necro hes lvl 16 i think not sure but anyways right now i switched over too death just to have a lil fun i find myself getting treated better than before I USE a max dmg death wand that my buddy brought to me from the UW of Fissure its sick!and i use a decent cesta thing that just boost life/energy
try out blood and death you decide...in all outcome i still think necros are among the best! they are my favorite to pay with anywere
in PVP i usally go max blood and rest curses...sucks them dry in seconds its great

The Necromancer is always a utility class - he's rarely, if ever, the focus of a strategy. Thus you need to keep a wide variety of equipment and skills available so that you can swap in the right tools for whatever job is needed. In practice this means access to Superior Blood and Superior Death runes, Enchanting staves for those attributes, a full set of scars, and Bloodstained Boots to swap in as needed.

For skills, the elites you're going to need to capture are Blood is Power and Tainted Flesh, while Order of the Vampire, Offering of Blood, and Lingering Curse are also solid and used on occasion. Normal skills can be bought as needed.
